Architectural Photography
Learn the basics of architectural photography from award-winning photographer João Morgado. With a career spanning more than 12 years, he has shot more than a thousand photographs in Portugal and in countries such as Brazil, the USA, Mexico, Italy, France and Kuwait. In 2020, he was distinguished as the best architectural photographer by the Muse Design Awards, adding to his victory at the ARCAID Awards in 2014, in the "Sense of Place" category. The following year, he was named one of the ten best architectural photographers in the world in New York. His work is regularly published in leading magazines such as Architectural Digest, Casa Bella, Wallpaper, Azure and id+C. In 2024, João Morgado was awarded the Architecture MasterPrize in two categories of architectural photography.
João Morgado is also co-founder of the LOOP Design Awards, a prestigious international prize for architecture, design and architectural photography.
Architectural photography requires mastery of specialized techniques to capture the essence of buildings and urban environments. In this workshop, we will explore essential concepts, learn composition techniques and discuss fundamental post-production tips.
During the morning, we will focus on the relationship between Architecture and Photography, addressing different ways of representing architecture through composition and the interaction of light and shadow. João Morgado will share his extensive experience in architectural photography and some of the most important concepts, such as perspective, details, textures, materials, exteriors vs. interiors, and reveal some of the secrets behind some of his most iconic images.
In the afternoon, it will be time to apply some of the knowledge in practical exercises.
At the end of the workshop, we'll have a brief introduction to post-production and we'll do a joint analysis of images from all the participants.
You don't have to have photographic equipment or a computer for this workshop; you just have to be willing to learn and explore the world of architectural photography!

Price: The online workshop costs 70€ per person. Registration is limited to 50 participants.
A Certificate of Participation is included and each participant will receive an Essential Guide to Architectural Photography. This guide will consolidate the main topics covered and provide practical tips to facilitate progress after the workshop, serving as an ongoing reference for improving your skills.
